Donald D. Vigil

Don Vigil was born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico. A graduate of Roswell High School in 1970, he attended the University of New Mexico in 1974, and the University of New Mexico Law School in 1978. He has been married since 1977, has two grown children and two grandchildren.

When he was fifteen years old, Don’s father, a WWII veteran, became disabled due to a variety of conditions which required him to apply for Social Security disability.  The family struggled for over four years while his dad’s Social Security disability and VA disability claims were processed.  This experience led to Don’s decision to fight for others to get the benefits needed for family survival.

Outside of the office, Don enjoys family activities, traveling, fly-fishing, painting, and snow skiing. He is a born and raised New Mexican and bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish.

Don Vigil was awarded the Margaret Daily Keiper Award in Law in 1978 upon his graduation from the University of New Mexico School of Law. This award is in recognition of awareness of social problems, concern for people in trouble, and dedication to the professional responsibility to provide justice for all.  He was President of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association in 1996 and was the honoree of the 29th Annual Amicus Honors Dinner in 2013.  He is licensed to practice before the United States District Court, District of New Mexico, the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, State of New Mexico District Courts, and regularly practices in New Mexico in these courts as well as the New Mexico Workers Compensation Administration and  Social Security Administration.

Don handles personal injury cases, as well as workers compensation cases, Social Security disability claims and private disability cases including short term and long term disability matters.
